About
Tim was raised in a small, close-knit community in upstate New York, where values like hard work, service, and integrity were part of everyday life. In 1998, he chose to make Halifax County, Virginia his home—a decision that would shape both his personal life and his legacy of public service.
That same year, Tim joined the South Boston Police Department, beginning a distinguished career that spanned more than two decades. From 1998 to 2021, he served the citizens of South Boston and Halifax County with dedication, professionalism, and a deep sense of responsibility. Known for his steady presence, approachable nature, and unwavering commitment to the community, Tim became more than just a police officer—he became a familiar and trusted face, widely regarded as a local public servant and community figure.
Over the years, Tim earned the respect of colleagues and residents alike, building relationships that extended far beyond his badge. His service left a lasting impact on the community he proudly protected.
Outside of public service, Tim embraces farm life alongside his wife, Monica VanAernem (Puryear) . Together, they enjoy a quieter pace of life, complete with their two Highland cows—an emblem of Tim’s appreciation for hard work and simplicity.
Today, Tim is known as a devoted husband, father, and local personality whose life reflects a genuine commitment to community, service, and the place he proudly calls home.
Tim lives by the golden rule, always treat others as you want to be treated. He is thrilled to serve the community in Southern Virginia with care, integrity, and the same passion that helped mold him into who he is today.
